WACO, Texas – The National Collegiate Equestrian Association unveiled its latest set of rankings this afternoon as the University of Tennessee at Martin remained at the No. 10 slot.
Only the top half of the poll changed from last week as Auburn and SMU are now tied for the No. 1 spot. TCU stayed at No. 3 while Oklahoma State (No. 4) and Texas A&M (No. 5) flipped spots. No. 6 Georgia, No. 7 South Carolina, No. 8 Fresno State, No. 9 Baylor and the No. 10 Skyhawks held on to the same positions as last week.
Today marks the 40th straight appearance for UT Martin in the NCEA top-10 rankings as the Skyhawks have been ranked in every national poll since March 7, 2023.
UT Martin concluded the regular season last Saturday, narrowly falling to No. 7 South Carolina by an 11-7 margin. The Skyhawks won three out of five points in horsemanship, keyed by an MOP effort out of Mia McAfoos in that event. Kate Davis and Lillian Laney also won head-to-head decisions in horsemanship while Logan Putvinski and Davis each claimed victories in reining. Elizabeth Becker accounted for both of UT Martin's points in the Jumping Seat discipline, dialing up wins in both fences and flat.
This season, Becker tops the Skyhawks in fences victories (seven) while she, Emerson Maier, Payton Lussen and Gabby Adams have all won MOP's in that event in 2024-25. Adams leads UT Martin in both victories (eight) and MOP's (four) in flat this season while McAfoos' eight triumphs and four MOP's in horsemanship also rank as a team-high. In reining, Putvinski and Lexi Bailey top the squad with 10 victories and four MOP's, respectively.
The Skyhawks are back in action later this month when they host the 2025 Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship tournament at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex. UT Martin will host the five-team, three-day event on Thursday, March 27 through Saturday, March 29.
