WACO, Texas – There were no adjustments in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association top-10 rankings this week as the University of Tennessee at Martin remained in the ninth slot.
Auburn is still No. 1 and is followed by No. 2 TCU, No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 4 SMU, No. 5 Texas A&M, No. 6 Fresno State, No. 7 Georgia, No. 8 South Carolina, the No. 9 Skyhawks and No. 10 Baylor. Today's announcement marks 38 straight appearances in the national top-10 rankings for UT Martin.
With one regular season meet remaining, the Skyhawks currently sit at 6-5 overall with an unblemished 6-0 record in Eastern College Athletic Conference play. UT Martin hosted a pair of opponents this past weekend, earning a 13-6 triumph over ECAC foe Delaware State before falling 11-6 to No. 4 SMU.
This past weekend, four Skyhawk riders combined for five MOP medals. Gabby Adams claimed both Jumping Seat discipline MOP awards against Delaware State while Lillian Laney (horsemanship) and Lexi Bailey (reining) also brought home those honors. Elise Mason earned the reining MOP the following day for UT Martin against SMU.
The Skyhawks posted seven victories over the weekend in reining, led by perfect 2-0 marks from Mason, Logan Putvinski and Kate Davis. Five more UT Martin victories came via flat as Rileigh Weiss was responsible for a flawless 2-0 record. In fences, Kate Mills (2-0), Adams (one win, one tie) and Bridget Vieau (one win, one tie) went unbeaten while the Western discipline duo of Bailey and Davis each generated one win and one tie to go undefeated in horsemanship.
