
UT Martin Ranked No. 9 In NCEA Top-10 Rankings

WACO, Texas – The new National Collegiate Equestrian Association poll has dropped and the University of Tennessee at Martin retained its No. 9 ranking today ahead of a big home weekend.
Auburn is No. 1 once again as the No. 2 spot (TCU) also remained unchanged from last week. The next five spots were shaken up as No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 4 SMU, No. 5 Texas A&M, No. 6 Fresno State and No. 7 Georgia are all new to their current positions. South Carolina followed at No. 8 while the Skyhawks (No. 9) and Baylor (No. 10) concluded the poll.
UT Martin was last in action on Feb. 7-8 in Auburn, Ala., defeating Eastern College Athletic Conference rival Minnesota-Crookston (13-6) and narrowly falling to top-ranked Auburn (11-6). The Skyhawks are 5-4 on the season and 5-0 in ECAC play heading into a pair of home matchups against ECAC foe Delaware State (8:30 a.m. on Feb. 21) and No. 4 SMU (9 a.m. on Feb. 22).
On the season, UT Martin has produced 27 victories in reining with seven MOP's to go along with 23 wins with five MOP's in horsemanship. In the Jumping Seat discipline, the Skyhawks have accumulated 24 victories with six MOP's in flat plus 19 wins and three MOP's in fences.
Individually, Elise Mason and Logan Putvinski have garnered a team-best seven victories apiece in reining while Lexi Bailey's three MOP's in that event rank as a team-high. Mia McAfoos has paced UT Martin in horsemanship, compiling team-highs of seven wins and three MOP's. In flat, Gabby Adams has achieved team-highs in victories (seven) and MOP's (three) while Elizabeth Becker (team-bests of six wins, one MOP), Emerson Maier (one MOP) and Payton Lussen (one MOP) have led the Skyhawks in fences.
