'AIEA, O'AHU, Hawai'i – The University of Tennessee at Martin squad wrapped up its fall semester today with 18-plus holes of golf at the Pearl at Kalauou Invitational, hosted by the University of Hawaii at Pearl Country Club.
After nearly 80 percent of the tournament field did not finish yesterday's Round 2 prior to darkness causing a suspension, the Skyhawks shot their best round of the tournament with a 291 (+3). UT Martin followed that with a 297 (+9) in Round 3, producing a 54-hole score of 886 (+22) to rank 13th in the loaded field. "This was an unforgettable experience this week in Hawai'i for our program," Skyhawk head coach Austin Swafford said. "We got to play and compete against some of the top teams in the country on a challenging golf course while also getting to experience a state that none of our guys had traveled to before. I'm proud of our efforts this week – the guys were focused and bought into our gameplan. Now it's time to rest and get ready for our offseason."
Drew Williams (four birdies) and Grant Phillips (one eagle, one birdie) each carded even-par 72's to guide UT Martin in Round 2. Luke Caldwell (73, three birdies) and Luke Beadles (74, four birdies) were the final two scorers in the Skyhawk lineup while John-Gregory Wilson (79, three birdies) and Jaden Morrell (80, one birdie as an individual) also concluded the second round early this morning.
