Skyhawks Fall To Murray State In Two-Day Match

MARTIN, Tenn. – The 19th-ranked University of Tennessee at Martin rifle team fell to eighth-ranked Murray State, 4709-4613, Sunday at the Skyhawk Rifle Range. The Skyhawks fired a 2333 in air rifle on the second day of the two-day match, to go along with Saturday's 2280 in smallbore.
Joey Kovach and Aubrey Chenoweth each shot a 585 to lead their team in air rifle, while Sophia Ashford was one shot behind at 584. Olivia Harvey and Liam Tegeler shot a 579 and 576, respectively, with Rachel Haines shooting a 571 and Jeffrey Bourassa shooting a 562 to round things out for the Skyhawks.
On Saturday, Kovach and Tegeler led the Skyhawks in smallbore with a 575, while Ashford was close behind at 573. Haines finished the event two points off her career high with a 566, with Chenoweth and Harvey shooting a 557 and a 555, respectively.
In aggregate scoring, Kovach led the way at 1160, while Ashford was just three points behind him at 1157. Liam Tegeler was also solid over the two-day match, compiling a total score of 1151.
UT Martin returns to action on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at Morehead State for back-to-back matches against the Eagles.
