WACO, Texas – For the 34th consecutive edition of the National Collegiate Equestrian Association rankings, the University of Tennessee at Martin finds itself amongst the top teams in the country as the Skyhawks sit at No. 9 this week.
The national top-10 remained the same as the final set of fall rankings from Dec. 10. Auburn remained at No. 1 and was followed by No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 3 TCU, No. 4 Georgia, No. 5 Oklahoma State, No. 6 Fresno State, No. 7 SMU, No. 8 South Carolina, No. 9 UT Martin and No. 10 Baylor.
The Skyhawks posted a 4-3 record in the fall against a stout schedule that included three nationally ranked foes. UT Martin swept its Eastern College Athletic Conference slate in the fall, moving atop the league standings with an unblemished 4-0 record.
The fall campaign included a combined 74 Skyhawk head-to-head victories with 17 MOP's. UT Martin's Western riders represented 42 wins (22 in reining, 22 in horsemanship) while the Jumping Seat squad tacked on 32 triumphs (17 in flat, 15 in fences). The Skyhawks dialed up six reining MOP's, five flat MOP accolades, four horsemanship MOP medals and a pair of MOP recognitions in fences.
Five regular season dates make up the spring schedule before UT Martin hosts the ECAC Championship tournament on March 27-29. The Skyhawks return to action on Feb. 7-8 when they travel to Auburn, Ala. to take on ECAC rival Minnesota-Crookston and No. 1 Auburn.
