WACO, Texas – The final National Collegiate Equestrian Association top-10 rankings of the 2023-24 regular season were unveiled this afternoon as the University of Tennessee at Martin retained its spot at No. 8.
Four teams moved from last week's poll as TCU stayed at No. 1. The Horned Frogs are followed by No. 2 SMU, No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Georgia, No. 5 Auburn, No. 6 South Carolina, No. 7 Oklahoma State, the No. 8 Skyhawks, No. 9 UC Davis and No. 10 Delaware State.
UT Martin has been off since a March 1 victory over Minnesota-Crookston at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex. That win wrapped up a 5-7 regular season record against a stout schedule that included nine top-10 opponents. The triumph also improved the Skyhawks' Eastern College Athletic Conference record to 4-1 as UT Martin prepares for the ECAC Championship tournament held in Davis, Calif. on March 25-27.
Today's announcement means that the Skyhawks have been represented in all 18 NCEA polls this season. A dozen different UT Martin riders have combined for 27 ECAC in-season honors in 2023-24, including 21 weekly accolades and six monthly awards. Eight of those awards have come in horsemanship, followed by seven in reining, seven in flat and five in fences.
As a team, the Skyhawks have earned 103 head-to-head wins and nabbed 20 MOP accolades. The reining lineup has collected the most victories (30) and MOP's (seven) while fences (26 wins, five MOP's), horsemanship (25 victories, four MOP's) and flat (22 wins, four MOP's) squads have all contributed to UT Martin's success so far this season.
