WACO, Texas – The University of Tennessee at Martin program moved up a spot to No. 9 today as the National Collegiate Equestrian Association unveiled its latest rankings.
A shakeup was in store as five of the 10 teams shifted in this week's poll. The top three (No. 1 Auburn, No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 3 TCU) remained intact while Georgia moved to No. 4 and Oklahoma State fell to No. 5. Fresno State stayed at sixth while SMU dropped to No. 7. South Carolina retained its No. 8 ranking while the Skyhawks and Baylor (No. 10) flipped spots in the standings.
UT Martin put the finishing touches on its fall slate with a pair of victories earlier this month against Eastern College Athletic Conference rivals South Dakota State (12-4) and Delaware State (11-9). Those results improved the Skyhawks to 4-3 overall with a spotless 4-0 record against ECAC competition.
As a team, UT Martin owns 74 individual head-to-head victories so far in 2024-25. That includes 42 triumphs in the Western discipline (22 reining, 20 horsemanship) and 32 wins (17 flat, 15 fences) in Jumping Seat. A total of nine Skyhawks (Gabby Adams, Lexi Bailey, Elizabeth Becker, Emerson Maier, Aubrey Malone, Elise Mason, Mia McAfoos, Logan Putvinski, Bridget Vieau) have combined for 17 MOP medals (six reining, five flat, four horsemanship, two fences) as part of UT Martin's successful run through the fall campaign.
The Skyhawks return to action on Feb. 7-8 when they head to Auburn, Ala. to compete against No. 1 Auburn and ECAC foe Minnesota-Crookston.
