WACO, Texas – The National Collegiate Equestrian Association released its weekly top-10 poll this afternoon and the University of Tennessee at Martin checked in at No. 10.
The Skyhawks have now been ranked in 25 consecutive NCEA polls dating back to March 7, 2023. That includes the final three sets of rankings during the 2022-23 campaign, all 19 polls in 2023-24 and the first three editions of the rankings this season.
UT Martin opened its season last weekend in Brookings, SD with a slim 8-7 setback to then-No. 10 Fresno State before picking up a triumphant 15-5 victory over South Dakota State. A total of 13 different Skyhawks combined for 22 victories and four MOP's over the course of the two meets.
Logan Putvinski won the reining MOP against Fresno State while Gabby Adams (flat), Lexi Bailey (horsemanship) and Elise Mason (reining) each claimed MOP accolades for UT Martin in the road matchup against South Dakota State. The trio of Adams, Bailey and Putvinski were all crowned as Eastern College Athletic Conference Riders of the Week earlier today in their respective events mentioned above.
Kate Mills was a perfect 3-0 in the Jumping Seat discipline (two wins in fences, one victory in flat) while Bailey was also unbeaten in both Western events, going 2-0 in horsemanship and 1-0-1 in reining for the Skyhawks.
Overall, four of the 10 spots changed from last week's NCEA poll. Auburn retained its No. 1 ranking and was followed by No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 3 TCU, No. 4 SMU, No. 5 Oklahoma State, No. 6 Georgia, No. 7 South Carolina, No. 8 Fresno State, No. 9 Delaware State and No. 10 UT Martin.
The Skyhawks are idle until Oct. 18, hosting UC Davis and No. 5 Oklahoma State on back-to-back days for the home-opening weekend at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex.
