The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will make the short trek from Illinois across the Mississippi River for an inaugural matchup against new Ohio Valley Conference foe Lindenwood on Saturday, Feb. 4. Tipoff from Hyland Arena is slated for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (9-12, 6-5 OVC) enter the contest as winners of back-to-back games for the first time this season after picking up victories against Southern Indiana (68-56) and SIUE (83-64) by double figures. In the team's most recent matchup against SIUE, the Skyhawks came out firing on all cylinders by knocking down 12 three-pointers, dishing out 18 assists and forcing the Cougars to commit 26 turnovers en route to a 19-point victory.
Shae Littleford collected game-highs of 20 points and four steals while adding four assists and four rebounds for the Skyhawks in the win over SIUE. With the cancellations, the Lions have not played in two weeks with their last matchup coming against Morehead State on Jan. 21.
The Lions top players is Mary McGrath which leads the team in points (12.4 ppg), rebounds (6.1 rpg), steals (1.7) and blocks (0.5). Devin Fuhring ranks second on the team with 10.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
Saturday's contest marks the first meeting between the two programs in series history.
