
UT MARTIN WOMEN’S RODEO SQUAD ACCOUNTS FOR A THIRD-PLACE SHOWING AT THREE RIVERS COLLEGE

SIKESTON, Mo. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women's team earned its second top-three finish of the 2023-24 rodeo campaign this weekend as the Skyhawks competed at the three-day event hosted by Three Rivers College.
The UT Martin women's team dialed up 425 points, trailing only Pearl River Community College (485) and West Alabama (470) in the standings. On the men's side, the Skyhawks came away with 20 points.
Noah Beshears earned points for the men's squad in calf roping, placing fifth in average (39.2) and fifth in the short round (26.1).
In breakaway roping, Lainey Hutchison won the short round with a time of 3.1 seconds before placing fourth with a 8.4 average.
Emma Kate Wilder brought home points in all three phases of goat tying. The senior from Millington, Tenn. finished third in the opening go (8.1), fourth in average (16.9) and split fifth in the short round (8.8).
Emma Kate additionally joined forces with her sister Anna Wilder in the team roping event. The duo performed extremely well – placing second in both average (15.9) and in the short round (7.6) in addition to a fifth-place effort in the opening go (8.3).
A pair of cowgirls generated points for the Skyhawks in barrel racing. Savannah Moran led the way with a third-place finish in the first round (16.81) before placing fourth in both the short go (16.95) and in average (33.76). Josie Luttrell's time of 16.87 seconds in the opening go was good enough for fourth-place in the event standings while she also finished fifth in both the short round (17.45) and in average (34.32).
UT Martin has two dates remaining on its fall schedule as it will next travel to Magnolia, Ark. for a rodeo hosted by Southern Arkansas on Thursday, Nov. 2 through Saturday, Nov. 4.
