MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin football team used its ninth practice of fall camp as a dress rehearsal by conducting its first scrimmage under the lights of Hardy M. Graham Stadium on Friday night.
With the Skyhawks moving halfway through its preseason schedule, the team took the intensity up a notch with the offense and defense going against each other, head-to-head. While the evening featured a seasonably pleasant forecast and steady breeze, the action was hot on the turf.

UT Martin's offense showed its big play potential with four touchdown passes and subsequent runs which eclipsed 50 yards on the evening. Defensively the Skyhawks forced three turnovers with a fumble and a pair of interceptions to flex their own muscles.
Graduate quarterback Dresser Winn completed two of those long plays by connecting with DeVonte Tanksley for a 65-yard touchdown early before later finding Randy Fields, Jr. who scampered downfield for a 75-yard score. Fellow quarterback Cornelious Brown IV also had a nice evening, highlighted by a 42-yard completion early in the scrimmage to Deray Lawrence before the tandem connected again just moments later to cap off the scoring drive with a 15-yard touchdown strike.
The offense's other touchdowns came on a 75-yard touchdown pass from transfer quarterback Kody Sparks to freshman Khalik Ganaway while redshirt-freshman Josh Lundy found newcomer Ka'Dedrick Richardson down the right side after being pinned against his own end zone for a 93-yard touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, junior Jay Rogers forced the first turnover with a stripped fumble which Carson Evans jumped on to end the drive. The Skyhawks also saw the secondary duo of Oshae Baker and Kaleb Almo record interceptions to highlight the team's performance.
On special teams, both place kickers Tyler Larco and graduate transfer Frankie Onate made 43-yard field goal attempts.
UT Martin will take off Saturday for rest and recovery before returning to work on Sunday evening.
