MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin football program wrapped up its 15 spring practices by holding its annual Navy and White Spring Game at Hardy Graham Stadium with the Navy squad edging out the White squad by a 27-23 margin.
The matchup featured a well-balanced contest for the Skyhawk faithful as the stands at Graham Stadium were filled with devoted fans and recruits in conjunction with the program's annual Junior Day.
"I thought this was a good spring," UT Martin head coach Jason Simpson said. "I thought we competed tonight. We are growing with our linebacker group while our secondary was really the more dominant group of the spring and I'm really pleased with that. We had some running backs flash, and the offensive line has got a chance to do some things. We've got a lot of work ahead of us, but for 15 practices, I thought we got a lot done. I'm excited to go forward with this group."
Five different quarterbacks saw action for the Skyhawks with Julian Calvez leading the way by completing 8-of-14 pass attempts for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman Tate Surber completed 12-of-22 attempts for 76 yards with one touchdown while newcomer Aidan Glover also found the endzone in the scrimmage.
The rushing attack was led by newcomer and Boise State transfer Greg Ard as he posted team-highs with 14 carries for 68 yards while also finding the endzone on a 12-yard carry. LaMarcus Blackman racked up 13 carries for 36 yards while both Moses Adelowo and Tommy Ansley rushed for 29 yards on the night.
After missing the fall due to injury, Keyshaun Pipkin hauled in a game-high four receptions for 47 yards. The receiving tandem of Jamauri Brice and Anthony Carter each made the most of their two respective receptions by combining for three of the team's four receiving touchdowns. Brice hauled in a 24-yard reception from Glover to give the Navy squad a 14-3 advantage while Carter scored a pair of receiving touchdowns for the White squad on receptions from Calvez (17 yards) and Surber (nine yards). Rounding out the offensive scoring on the night was a 15-yard touchdown reception by Kaleb Washington from Calvez.

Defensively, the Skyhawks were impressive with numerous standout performances, but none were better than the show put on by newcomer Brylan Jordan who posted a game-high 13 tackles while being a pair of six tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. The pair of Reginald Allen, Jr. and Jordan Lee ranked second on the team with seven tackles each while Malik Brown, Demarie Jordan, Farand Washington, Porter Reynolds, Daveon Johnson and Chris Wilson each tallied at least five tackles on the night.
The Skyhawks recorded five sacks in the scrimmage with Jordan leading the way with two while Johnson, Wilson and Duston Chavis also reached the quarterback. In the secondary, Jamarcus Smith and Zamaryion Farmer-McCray each recorded interceptions for their squads while Cameron Powell, CJ Cobbins and Washington each recorded a pair of pass breakups. Smith and Chavis also teamed up for another turnover with a forced fumble and recovery.
On special teams, freshman Brandon Sims made a pair of field goal attempts from 28 and 35 yards, respectively. Meanwhile, Alex Nolen cashed in a 40-yard field goal attempt while newcomer Stafford Roditis split the uprights with a 52-yard field goal late in the scrimmage. The trio combined to go 5-5 on point after attempts.
