
UT MARTIN BEACH VOLLEYBALL EARNS ANOTHER OVC VICTORY FOLLOWING DAY 1 SPLIT AT JACKSONVILLE STATE TOURNAMENT

ANNISTON, Ala. – The University of Tennessee at Martin beach volleyball squad earned another impressive victory, knocking off Ohio Valley Conference foe Jacksonville State by a 3-2 margin in the second of two matches today. This morning, the Skyhawks battled against Morehead State but fell by a 4-1 decision.
The UT Martin team of Haeleigh Paulino and Logan Wallick went a perfect 2-0 on the day, competing at both the No. 3 and No. 4 slots. The duo of Kayla Carrell/Karen Scanlon and Addison Conley/Jessica Reynolds also posted victories at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, today.
The Skyhawks kicked off the tournament's six-match Day 1 schedule with a 9 a.m. clash against Morehead State. Paulino and Wallick joined forces for an impressive 21-17, 21-15 triumph over Anya Reinhard/Margaret Musselman at No. 3 but unfortunately that was all the only win for UT Martin during the morning session.
Conley and Reynolds gave it their all at No. 4 before falling in a third-set tiebreaker (21-10, 19-21, 15-10). Lucy Kaufman and Hannah Phillips kept things close at No. 1 but fell 21-17, 23-21. At No. 2, Carrell/Scanlon fell 21-12, 21-16 while Baillie Kearns and Lauren O'Neill joined forces at No. 5 but were defeated 21-14, 21-12.
UT Martin came back strong in its 5 p.m. matchup against event host Jacksonville State, winning the middle three matchups to improve to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in OVC play.
Paulino and Wallick navigated a 22-20, 14-21, 15-13 victory at No. 4 while Carrell and Scanlon composed a 21-19, 21-16 triumph at No. 2. The Skyhawks' No. 3 team of Conley and Reynolds officially clinched the team win with a 21-11, 21-17 victory.
Kearns/Zoe Merriweather (lost 21-18, 21-12 at No. 5) and Kaufman/Phillips (fell 21-12, 21-19 at No. 1) also represented UT Martin against the Gamecocks.
The Skyhawks complete their participation in the tournament on Sunday, April 18 when they square off against Eastern Kentucky (8 a.m.) and Chattanooga (12 p.m.).
