
SKYHAWK RIFLE HEADS TO MOREHEAD STATE IN SEARCH OF OVC CHAMPIONSHIP THIS WEEKEND

MARTIN, Tenn. – The 2021 Ohio Valley Conference Rifle Championship will take place on Feb. 6-7 in Morehead, Ky. as the University of Tennessee at Martin, Jacksonville State University, Morehead State University and Murray State University will vie for the league title.
The smallbore portion of the event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 6. The first relay is scheduled to begin at 7:45 a.m. CST, followed by relays at 10:45 a.m. CST and 1:45 p.m. CST.
Sunday, Feb. 7 begins the air rifle competition as the first relay will once again start at 7:45 a.m. CST. A second relay starts at 10:15 a.m. CST and is followed by a final relay at 12:45 p.m. CST.
This weekend marks the second time that the Skyhawks will visit Button Rifle Range this season as UT Martin also faced Morehead State on back-to-back days last fall. The Skyhawks compiled a score of 4,552 (2,309 air rifle, 2,243 smallbore) on Nov. 7 and followed that with a 4,557 tally (2,310 air rifle, 2,247 smallbore) on Nov. 8.
Reigning OVC Coach of the Year MJ Vowell has set her lineups for the 2021 OVC Championship as the smallbore squad will consist of junior Rachel Sprague (team-best 570 season average), redshirt senior Jennifer Plocinik (568 season average), senior Jacob Osborne (563 season average), sophomore Nick Fares (556 season average) and redshirt senior Amanda Mayo (538 season average).
On the air rifle side, UT Martin will go with the team of Plocinik (team-high 584 season average), Sprague (580 season average), Fares (573 season average), Osborne (569 season average) and junior Abigail Donald (561 season average).
