WACO, Texas – Eleven different University of Tennessee at Martin honorees combined to claim 13 spots on the Farnam National Collegiate Equestrian Association All-Academic Team, which was released this afternoon.
A total of five Skyhawks were amongst the 78 riders who nabbed All-Academic first team status. That list included Tess Baumann, Lucy Eier, Hannah McDonald, Savannah Metheny and Devon Woods. To qualify for this award, a rider must have competed in a minimum of 70 percent of their school's meets (not including demo or exhibitions) and must have earned a cumulative minimum Grade Point Average of 3.5 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring (2019) and fall (2019) semesters.
Earning a nod on the All-Academic honorable mention team was UT Martin's Abbie Hopkins, who was one of 34 student-athletes to grace that list. Riders must have competed in a minimum of 50 percent of their school's meets (not including demo or exhibitions) and must have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring (2019) and fall (2019) semesters in order to qualify for that honor.
Seven different Skyhawk representatives landed on the APHA NCEA Academic Honor Roll, which tallied 155 participants who constituted a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring (2019) and fall (2019) semesters. McDonald and Metheny picked up their second mentions and were joined by teammates Jade Bleskey, Johnie Parker, Kyra Petty, Grace Salmon and Katelyn Schultz on this exclusive list.
