SKYHAWK RIFLE SET TO OPEN SPRING SLATE AT HOME AGAINST OVC FOE MURRAY STATE ON SATURDAY

MARTIN, Tenn. – The spring portion of the University of Tennessee at Martin's 2019-20 rifle schedule starts on Saturday, Jan. 11 when the Skyhawks host Ohio Valley Conference rival Murray State.
Two relays will take place at the Skyhawk Rifle Range, starting with smallbore at 9 a.m. and air rifle at noon. The second smallbore relay will approximately begin at 2:30 p.m. with air rifle to follow at 4:30 p.m. Spectators are welcome to attend the match from 12-2 p.m. and 4-5:30 p.m.
The matchup against the Racers begins a busy spring slate for UT Martin, who also hosts UAB and Jacksonville State on back-to-back days later this month. In addition, the Skyhawks will compete in the annual Withrow Invitational in Murray, Ky. on Jan. 26 before hosting the 2020 Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Feb. 8-9.
Three different Skyhawks have paced the squad in aggregate scoring through seven meets in 2019-20. Kaitlin Korinek has topped the list four times while Rachel Sprague (twice) and Jennifer Plocinik (once) were also responsible for the highest aggregate tallies at various times over the course of the fall campaign.
UT Martin's top average participants in air rifle include Korinek (588), Sprague (583), Plocinik (582), Jacob Osborne (570), Abigail Donald (567) and Nick Fares (567). Not following too far behind is Celia Gelpey (562), Kalen Royal (555) and Rachel Mills (551), Amanda Mayo (546) and Tristan Grisham (542).
In smallbore, Korinek and Sprague are tied for the team lead with an average of 572 points. Plocinik (570), Osborne (561) and Fares (555) round out the top-five averages for the Skyhawks, who also boast Donald (554), Grisham (550), Gelpey (545), Royal (545), Mayo (526) and Mills (523).
