
SKYHAWK ATHLETICS PRODUCES 19 OVC MEDAL OF HONOR STUDENT-ATHLETES FOR 2018-19

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin boasted 19 student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 Grade Point Average in 2018-19, as the Ohio Valley Conference announced its Medal of Honor winners today.
The 19 OVC Medal of Honor recipients are the third-highest total in Skyhawk history, ranking just behind 2013-14 (22 winners) and 2016-17 (20 winners). Overall, UT Martin has generated 286 OVC Medal of Honor student-athletes since joining the league in 1992.
Individually, Winston Cannon (baseball), Chantal Wilson (women's cross country) and Andrea Plantada (women's tennis) picked up an OVC Medal of Honor for the third time in their careers. Jonah Brody (baseball) and Mizuki Sakurai (women's tennis) additionally earned their second career OVC Medal of Honor award while Wilson accounted for her second accolade in women's track and field.
The Skyhawk baseball and rifle programs chalked up the most OVC Medal of Honor winners in their respective sports. UT Martin was responsible for four of the OVC's 15 Medal of Honor recipients in baseball and two of the OVC's three Medal of Honor winners in rifle.
All in all, a record 268 OVC student-athletes compiled 4.0 GPA's during the 2018-19 academic school year, shattering the previous mark of 248 honorees in 2015-16. The OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll (at least a 3.25 GPA) will be released on Tuesday, Aug. 13.
