
UT MARTIN BASEBALL HOSTS MVC RIVAL EVANSVILLE IN MIDWEEK BATTLE

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team is set to host Missouri Valley Conference rival Evansville on Wednesday, April 24. First pitch against the Purple Aces is scheduled for 6 p.m.
UT Martin (15-24) is led by the play of Casey Harford and Jordan Stoner. Harford is coming off a performance against Austin Peay in which he blasted a grand slam and also belted a two-run homer to give him six RBIs in the contest. On the year, Harford sports a .348 batting clip to go along with an .897 OPS as he has roped nine doubles, legged out a three-bagger and launched three homers while also having driven in a squad-best 29 runs. Stoner boasts a .340 batting average and .890 OPS as he has rapped out 11 two-baggers and belted a trio of long balls. He has also found his way on base in a multitude of ways as he has earned nine free bases via walk and been plunked 13 times. Between Stoner and Harford, eight bases have been stolen while the Skyhawks as a whole have swiped 27 bags on the year.
Freshman righty Seth Petry (2-1, 4.95 ERA) is scheduled to get the starting nod in the midweek showcase. The Murfreesboro, Tenn. native has logged 20 innings on the bump this season while having fanned 15 in that span. He has seen success as a starter as he has not allowed more than two earned runs in any of his five nods. He racked up a personal-best five strikeouts in his start against Christian Brothers. The relief duo of Nick Wohlbold (0-1, 2.16 ERA and seven saves) and Zach Denney (1-1, 2.25 ERA and two saves) has been superb this year as the two men have combined for 45 innings pitched and 56 strikeouts.
Evansville (19-17) is led at the plate by Nate Reeder. He leads all Purple Aces in batting average (.352), hits (45), RBIs (28) and OPS (.963). Reeder has legged out nine doubles and driven four balls over the wall on the season while also having swiped three bases. Tanner Craig is tied for the team lead in runs plated as he is knotted with Reeder at 28. Craig sports a .295 batting clip to go along with a dozen doubles and three homers. Speedster Sam Troyer has swiped a whopping 16 bases for Evansville this year.
Left-handed pitcher Alex Weigand (2-4, 5.71 ERA) is expected to toe the rubber in the midweek affair. He has rung up 35 batters in 34.2 innings of action on the hill this season. The relief corps of Austin Allinger (0-2, 2.37 ERA), Michael Parks (1-1, 2.45 ERA), Jake McMahill (0-0, 3.00 ERA) and David Ellis (1-1, 3.21 ERA) has been superb this year as the foursome has combined for 58 strikeouts across 71.1 innings under 10th-year head coach Wes Carroll.
