
UTM BASEBALL HEADS TO LOCAL FOE UNION FOR MIDWEEK BATTLE

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball squad heads to nearby Jackson, Tenn. to take on local foe Union in a midweek showcase. First pitch is scheduled for Wednesday, April 17 at 6 p.m.
UT Martin (13-22) is led at the plate by Jordan Stoner and Casey Harford. Stoner paces the club in batting average (.338), on base percentage (.413), slugging percentage (.447), total hits (45), doubles (nine) and times hit by pitch (12). The Puyallup, Wash. native has also launched three homers and plated 18 runs on the season. Casey Harford has also been a key bat in the Skyhawk lineup as he sports a .325 batting clip to go along with nine two-baggers and 21 RBIs. Backstop Blake Davis has been on fire as of late as well as he has accumulated five long balls and 27 RBIs on the year.
Freshman righty Seth Petry (2-1, 4.82 ERA) looks to toe the rubber against the Bulldogs. The Murfreesboro, Tenn. native has logged 18.2 innings pitched on the year while he has recorded 14 strikeouts in that span. In his starts, Petry has tossed 14.2 innings and allowed just five earned runs in that time and is coming off a five-strikeout performance against Christian Brothers. Nick Wohlbold (0-1, 1.23 ERA) has been extremely effective in the closer role for UT Martin. He has racked up seven saves in 22 innings pitched and has sat down 32 via the punchout. He has conceded just three earned runs in his time on the bump while also holding opposing batters to just a .207 average.
Union (11-28) is led by the electric bat of Nolen Milton. He has accumulated a .342 batting average to go along with nine two-baggers, a triple, five homers and 24 RBIs while also having racked up an impressive .935 OPS on the season. Caleb DeMarigny sports a respectable .321 batting average and has roped a team-best 11 doubles while having plated 19 runs. As a squad, the Bulldogs have swiped 19 bases on the year being led by Dacoda Stone and Hayden Lewis with four apiece.
With no starter yet determined, Brandon Maxwell (1-6, 3.13 ERA), Ryan Mets (2-3, 5.84 ERA), Logan Portis (1-6, 7.77 ERA) and Scott Shearer (1-5, 6.00 ERA) have all drawn the starting nod in seven or more contests. Owen Bartholomew (0-0, 1.23 ERA) has tossed just 7.1 innings on the year but has been superb in that span as he has only allowed one earned run and fanned five in that span under fifth-year head coach Lee Driggers.
