
BASEBALL SKYHAWKS HEAD TO THE LAND OF LINCOLN FOR SERIES AGAINST OVC FOE SIUE

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team looks to open back up Ohio Valley Conference play this weekend against SIUE. After a five-game hiatus, the Skyhawks take on the Cougars in Game 1 of the series on Friday, April 12 with first pitch slated for 6 p.m. with a doubleheader now scheduled for Saturday, April 13 beginning at noon. Game 1 of the series is set to be streamed live on ESPN+.
UT Martin (13-19, 4-8 OVC) is led by Casey Harford and Jordan Stoner. Harford paces the club in batting average (.343) while having roped seven doubles, a three-bagger, a home run and driven in 21 RBIs. Stoner sports a .331 batting clip to go along with seven two-baggers, three round-trippers and 18 RBIs while also having swiped five bases on the season. Blake Davis has swung a hot bat lately as he is coming off a two-homer, six-RBI performance against Christian Brothers. Creighton Eldridge has showcased his all-around skill set as he has belted four long balls, legged out a pair of triples and driven in 10 runs while stealing 10 bases to lead the Skyhawks.
Right-hander Austen Bullington (1-5, 5.23 ERA) will draw the starting nod in Game 1 of the series. The Newburgh, Ind. native has recorded 41.1 innings of work on the mound and has fanned 26 in that span. Southpaw Sam Folks (3-3, 3.75 ERA) is set to toe the rubber in the first game of the twinbill. The lefty out of Franklin, Tenn. has tossed a team-high 50.1 innings pitched on the season while having recorded 28 strikeouts along the way. Right-handed pitcher Winston Cannon (4-5, 3.55 ERA) looks to start in the back end of the doubleheader. The Cookeville, Tenn. native paces the team in strikeouts (50) over 45.2 innings. Closer Nick Wohlbold (0-1, 1.29 ERA) has been an extremely vital piece of the UT Martin bullpen as he has logged 21 innings of relief and fanned 29 in that span while racking up seven saves on the season.
SIUE (9-21, 5-10 OVC) is led at the dish by the foursome of Eric Giltz, Dustin Woodcock, Peyton Cordova-Smith and Brock Weimer. Giltz sports a .308 batting clip to go along with 10 RBIs. Woodcock boasts a .305 batting average while having roped nine doubles, belted four homers and driven in 16 runs while stealing five bases. Righty Collin Baumgartner (0-4, 7.30 ERA) is expected to toe the rubber in the first game of the Saturday doubleheader. He has logged 37 innings across nine starts on the season and has fanned 44 opposing batters along the way. Right-handed pitcher Kenny Serwa (0-0, 9.00 ERA) looks to start in the back end of the twinbill. He has only started in one contest, tossing three innings and recording a strikeout in the process. Chris Robinson (3-2, 4.10 ERA) has been a big piece of the SIUE bullpen as he has made 15 appearances on the season.
