UT MARTIN BEACH VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN DOUBLE DUAL AT CENTRAL ARKANSAS

CONWAY, Ark. – Competing for the first time in over two weeks, the University of Tennessee at Martin beach volleyball team had several close calls today but fell 5-0 in both ends of a double dual at Central Arkansas.

In the first match of the day, the No. 3 Skyhawk duo of Megan Fair and Justine Walker came closest to a victory with a three-set decision. The pair won the opening set 21-17 but was outlasted 21-15, 15-11 over the final two stanzas. In addition, the No. 1 UT Martin team of Brooke Gyori/Hannah Phillips narrowly fell 21-19, 21-19.

Gintare Mackeviciute made her season debut today for the Skyhawks, teaming up with Addison Conley at No. 5 but the pair fell by scores of 21-17, 21-14. At No. 4, Lindsey Geurin and Jessica Reynolds dropped a 21-11, 21-12 decision while Kenzie Hinshaw and Karen Scanlon were defeated 21-9, 21-14 at No. 2.

UT Martin's No. 3 tandem of Fair and Walker once again took the opening set in the second match but fell 19-21, 21-19, 15-8. Hinshaw and Scanlon battled at No. 2 but were defeated by scores of 21-17, 21-10.

Gyori and Phillips represented the Skyhawks at No. 1, falling 21-11, 21-13. Conley and Reynolds joined forces for the first time this season but were defeated 21-17, 21-7 in the No. 4 slot.

UT Martin returns to action with three road matches in the span of three days next week. The Skyhawks travel to Austin Peay on Wednesday, April 3 before heading to North Alabama for a double dual on Friday, April 5.
