
UT MARTIN WOMEN’S HOOPS TO TRAVEL TO SOUTHERN ILLINOIS FOR REGIONAL MATCHUP

The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will look for its first road victory of the season with a matchup against regional rival Southern Illinois on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Tipoff from the Banterra Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (2-4) enter the contest looking to snap a four-game road losing streak. UT Martin has struggled from the floor on the road, shooting an average of 32.5 percent while averaging just 49.5 points per game.
UT Martin features three players which score in double figures in the trio of Chelsey Perry, Damiah Griffin and Tamiah Stanford. Perry leads the team with 14.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game, ranking second amongst active leaders in the OVC with 126 blocks in 72 career games. Meanwhile, the pair of Griffin (11.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg) and Stanford (10.2 ppg, 2.8 apg) round out the top offensive threats for the Skyhawks.
In his 11th year at the helm of the Skyhawks, head coach Kevin McMillan possesses a 198-130 record. Ranked as the winningest head coach in program history (men's or women's), McMillan holds a 14-7 record against members of the Missouri Valley Conference, including a 6-2 mark against Southern Illinois since 2010.
Southern Illinois (4-2) enters the contest winning three of its last four games, including a 61-53 victory over Saint Louis last week. The Salukis boast a high-scoring offense which averages 78.2 points per game while featuring three players in double figures. Makenzie Silvey paces the team with 20.3 points per game while Nicole Martin (15.5 ppg) and Abby Brockmeyer (12.8 ppg) rank as the squad's top scorers.
Tuesday's contest marks the 21st meeting between the two programs in a series which dates back to 1973. UT Martin holds a slim 11-9 advantage in the series while winning six of the last eight meetings.
