
UT MARTIN WOMEN’S HOOPS TO OPEN SEASON AT SAINT LOUIS ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT

The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will officially open the 2019-20 campaign on Wednesday, Nov. 6 with a matchup at Atlantic 10 foe Saint Louis. Tipoff from Chaifetz Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast exclusively on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (0-0) enter the season after notching the program's ninth 20-win since last year, posting a final mark of 23-9 while finishing as the league runner up in the Ohio Valley Conference. UT Martin returns 12 players from last year's squad while welcoming five newcomers to the fold.
UT Martin is highlighted by the junior tandem of Chelsey Perry and Maddie Waldrop who garnered Preseason All-OVC honors. Perry earned her second preseason honor in as many years after averaging 12.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last season. She tallied 19 games in double figures while ranked as one of the country's top shot blockers with 71 swats. Waldrop averaged 8.0 points and 7.3 rebounds while tallying three double-double – including a 20 point and 16 rebound performance in the regular season finale.
In the team's lone exhibition contest, UT Martin posted a 94-68 victory over Bethel. The Skyhawks scored in double figures while Perry led the team with 21 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in just 23 minutes of action. Also scoring in double figures was the duo of Tamiah Stanford (17 points) and Brittni Moore (14 points). UT Martin would shoot 44.6 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from beyond the arc while forcing 21 turnovers.
The Skyhawks are under the direction of 11th-year head coach Kevin McMillan. Since taking over in 2009, McMillan has posted a career mark of 196-126 to rank third all-time amongst OVC coaches and first in program history.
Saint Louis (0-0) welcomes back six players from a squad which went 15-16 last season. Sophomores Ciaja Harbison (14.6 ppg, 4.5 apg) and Brooke Flowers (8.0 ppg, 8.5 rpg) earned Atlantic 10 Conference preseason accolades after strong breakout campaigns. The Billikens are coached by Lisa Stone who is in her eighth season at Saint Louis where she has posted a 122-102 mark.
