
SKYHAWK RIFLE CLOSE TO BREAKING THROUGH AFTER BACK-TO-BACK SEASON-HIGH SCORES AT MOREHEAD STATE

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The University of Tennessee at Martin rifle team put together its two best scores of the season over the weekend at Morehead State, competing on back-to-back days against its Ohio Valley Conference rival.
On Saturday, the Skyhawks posted a season-best 4,600 aggregate points, narrowly falling as the host Eagles tallied 4,623 points. UT Martin then responded with a huge improvement during Sunday's match, shattering its season-high score with 4,622 points while Morehead State came away with 4,645 points.
Three different Skyhawks combined to tie or set new career-highs on Saturday, led by Jennifer Plocinik's 577 in smallbore and 584 in air rifle. Jacob Osborne (571 smallbore) and Rachel Sprague (591 air rifle) also began the weekend off with new personal-best scores.
Plocinik followed with another commanding performance in air rifle on Sunday, registering a new career-high with a score of 587 points.
All in all, five more UT Martin representatives were responsible for season-high scores over the weekend. Tristan Grisham's 561 in smallbore on Saturday was a season-best score while he equaled his season-high score of 551 in air rifle on Sunday. Amanda Mayo accrued a season-high tally in air rifle on Saturday (561) while Celia Gelpey tied a season-best score of 554 in smallbore on Sunday. Rachel Mills' 559 in air rifle on Saturday equaled her season-high tally while Osborne notched a season-best 580 in air rifle on Sunday in addition to his previously mentioned career-high performance in smallbore on Saturday.
Sprague boasted the top aggregate score (1,162) and air rifle performance (591) on Saturday. Plocinik followed closely behind with 1,161 combined points thanks to her event-high 577 smallbore score.
The Skyhawks secured a season-high 2,286 points in smallbore on Saturday. Joining Plocinik as counters was Sprague (571), Osborne (571), Kaitlin Korinek (567) and Nick Fares (550).
In air rifle on Saturday, UT Martin was responsible for 2,314 points. Sprague's 591 included a pair of perfect 100's while Plocinik (584), Korinek (582), Osborne (557) and Kalen Royal (556) completed the counters.
On Sunday, the Skyhawks tallied an identical score of 2,286 points in smallbore to go along with a season-high score of 2,336 in air rifle.
Plocinik's 574 paced the smallbore squad, which also featured countable scores out of Sprague (573), Korinek (572), Osborne (567) and Gelpey (554). UT Martin's success in air rifle was ignited by a team-high 587 from Plocinik in addition to Sprague's 586, Korinek's 583, Osborne's 580 and Abigail Donald's 564.
