
UT MARTIN MEN’S BASKETBALL PUSHES PAST EARLHAM COLLEGE IN 76-50 EXHIBITION VICTORY

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball team shook off a slow start to defeat Earlham College by a 76-50 margin in exhibition play at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center.
The Skyhawks led for 33:54 of clock time but could only manage a two-point halftime lead. UT Martin showed its full potential in the final 20 minutes, cranking up the defensive intensity by limiting the Quakers to 15.8 percent shooting (6-of-38).
Craig Randall II tallied game-highs of 19 points, five assists and three steals to go along with seven rebounds for the Skyhawks. Parker Stewart compiled 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists while newcomer Steve Wooten, Jr. poured in 12 points in only 18 minutes off the bench.
Quintin Dove narrowly missed a double-double (nine points, game-high 11 rebounds) while freshman Eric Rustin swatted seven blocked shots for UT Martin, who outscored Earlham College 44-18 in the paint. The Skyhawks also held a sizeable advantage on the glass, outrebounding the visitors by a 56-41 margin.
A NCAA Division III program out of Richmond, Ind., Earlham College was led by Blake Bonin's 14 points. Jamel Barnes, Jr. (10 points) additionally scored in double figures but the Quakers were forced into 18 turnovers.
UT Martin officially begins the 2019-20 campaign on Tuesday, Nov. 5 when it hosts St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Tipoff from the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center is set for 7 p.m.
