
UT MARTIN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TO HOST BETHEL FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT EXHIBITION

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will play a season tune-up against regional NAIA foe Bethel on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Tipoff from the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. Admission is free of charge.
The Skyhawks return 12 players from a team that went 23-9 a season ago, finished second in the Ohio Valley Conference standings and advanced to the program's seventh OVC Basketball Championship title game in the last nine years. UT Martin head coach Kevin McMillan ranks third in OVC history with 196 career victories through 10 seasons. During his tenure, the Skyhawks have never finished worse than fourth place in the OVC standings while tallying four conference championships.
Highlighting the squad are a pair of Preseason All-OVC honorees junior Chelsey Perry and Maddie Waldrop. Perry ranks as the team's top returning scorer after averaging 12.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while ranking 24th nationally with 71 blocks. Waldrop averaged 8.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game ranking in the top-10 in three different OVC statistical categories last year.
Bethel finished 28-6 a season ago while winning the SSAC regular season championship. The Lady Wildcats have been picked as preseason favorites to repeat while boasting top returners Morgan Martin (10.4 ppg, 8.1 rpg) and Tyasia Willis (10.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg).
