
SKYHAWKS POST SEVERAL PRs AT BRADLEY PINK CLASSIC

PEORIA, Ill. – The University of Tennessee at Martin cross country teams recorded impressive individual strides at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday afternoon as 12 Skyhawks posted new personal-records in a loaded competitive field at the Newman Golf Course.
The Skyhawks returned to competition after a two-week hiatus in the team's final tune-up before the Ohio Valley Conference Championship with a strong showing. As a whole, a total of 12 of the 15 athletes set new PRs on the course.
The afternoon began with the men's 8k Red Race where Alex Schell paced the Skyhawks once again with a time of 24:49.0 to finish 11th overall to record a new personal-best for the junior. Following behind was Tim Dye which finished 31st with a time of 25:11.0 while Daniel Smith (25:19.9) and John Payne (25:21.7) posted top-50 finishes. Lenny Baumann would rank as the fifth scorer for the Skyhawks with a time of 25:37.6. As a team, UT Martin would finish seventh out of 20 squads.
As a team, the group of Schell, Dye, Smith and John Payne each tallied PRs for the scoring-five while the trio of Will Oglesby, George Payne and Cole Davis also saw progression with PRs of their own.

In the women's 6k, two-time OVC Runner of the Week Alexis Grandys led the Skyhawks by shattering her previous 6k-time by nearly two minutes to finish seventh overall with a time of 21:19.3. She was joined by freshman Erica Fisher who finished 22nd in her first collegiate 6k with a time of 21:50.0.
Senior Agok Ayuen finished third for the Skyhawks at 22:37.9 while the trio of Taylor Roy (23:08.0), Natalie Motor (23:32.2) and Faith Kiprotich (24:12.5) each secured PRs of their own in the meet. As a team, UT Martin would finish 11th out of 23 teams.

UT Martin will now shift its focus to the OVC Cross Country Championships to be held in Edwardsville, Ill. on Saturday, Nov. 2.
