
UT MARTIN PAIR OF BACHUS AND JEFFERSON NAMED TSWA FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin football standouts John Bachus III and TJ Jefferson were named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association for their efforts against Tennessee Tech last weekend.
Bachus continues to add to his weekly honors after earning Ohio Valley Conference Player and Newcomer of the Week honors along with national recognition from College Football Performance Awards and STATS. The Pulaski, Tenn. native set career highs by throwing for 331 yards and five touchdowns while completing over 70 percent of his pass attempts. He currently ranks 20th in the country in yards per pass attempt (8.35) and 25th in completion percentage (63.3 percent).
Jefferson recorded a big game of his own, equaling a season-high with 12 tackles against Tennessee Tech. Along with his double-digit performance, the Nashville native posted a career-high with 2.5 sacks totaling 21 yards of loss. As a whole, the Skyhawks limited the Golden Eagles to season-lows in points and total offense while holding their third straight opponent to less than 100 yards on the ground.
The Skyhawks will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 when playing host to Eastern Illinois. Kickoff from Hardy Graham Stadium is slated for 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
