
UT MARTIN RIFLE SCORES STAY CONSISTENT IN NEUTRAL SITE MATCHUP AGAINST OLE MISS

MURRAY, Ky. – For the second time in three outings this season, the University of Tennessee at Martin rifle team compiled an aggregate score of 4,591 points as the Skyhawks squared off against Ole Miss on Sunday at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range.
The Rebels tallied 4,668 points to take the win as UT Martin equaled its season-opening score of 4,591 at Memphis. Last week at the same range, the Skyhawks accumulated 4,593 total points in a tri-match against Jacksonville State and Murray State.
The Skyhawks collected an air rifle score of 2,319 and were once again led by Kaitlin Korinek. Her score of 589 was the second-best score of the two competing teams, trailing only Ole Miss' Claire O'Neel (591). UT Martin also boasted a 586 by Rachel Sprague while Jennifer Plocinik (573), Abigail Donald (571) and Jacob Osborne (559) were all counters.
In smallbore, the Skyhawks dialed up 2,272 points. Leading the way was Sprague's 578 with Korinek (577) following closely behind. Sprague's score ranked in the top-five out of all scorers from both teams. UT Martin additionally secured countable scores out of Plocinik (560), Tristan Grisham (557) and Osborne (554).
One week after making a highly successful collegiate debut in both guns, freshman Nick Fares once again established personal best scores for the Skyhawks. He shot a 567 in smallbore and a 572 in air rifle for an aggregate score of 1,139.
Also competing for UT Martin was Celia Gelpey (559 air rifle, 542 smallbore), Amanda Mayo (529 air rifle, 536 smallbore) and Rachel Mills (543 air rifle, 510 smallbore). Donald also posted a 547 in smallbore while Grisham came away with 537 points in air rifle.
Korinek's 1,166 aggregate score topped the Skyhawks and was good enough for fourth-place in the field. That was followed by Sprague (1,164), the aforementioned Fares (1,139), Plocinik (1,133), Donald (1,118), Osborne (1,113), Gelpey (1,101), Grisham (1,094), Mayo (1,065) and Mills (1,053).
UT Martin will take a well-deserved break before its next match, which will take place on Nov. 2-3 at Ohio Valley Conference rival Morehead State.
