
SKYHAWK RIFLE COMPLETES BUSY WEEKEND AT MOREHEAD STATE

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The University of Tennessee at Martin rifle squad wrapped up an action-packed weekend at Morehead State this past weekend.
A host of Skyhawks posted new personal bests as Abigail Donald fired an air rifle score of 566 and Rachel Sprague posted a smallbore score of 576 on Saturday while Rachel Mills (555), Andre Delcalzo (576), Jacob Osborne (581) and Sprague (586) all fired highs in air rifle on Sunday. Kalen Royal boosted her personal high in smallbore to 553 on Saturday. Tristan Grisham also improved his personal bests over the weekend as he recorded an air rifle high of 563 on Saturday before shattering it the next day with a score of 566. He also posted a new high in smallbore with a score of 544.
On Saturday, the smallbore squad consisted of Sprague (576), Kaitlin Korinek (558), Celia Gelpey (556) and Osborne (553) to combine for a total of 2,243. Also firing in the discipline was Kalen Royal (553), Delcalzo (551), Donald (539) and Mills (538).
The Saturday air rifle total of 2,293 was put together by the contributions of Korinek (586), Sprague (577), Donald (566) and Gelpey (564). Also competing was Grisham (563), Osborne (561), Delcalzo (560), Mills (550), Mayo (537) and Royal (535).
Sunday saw an uptick in smallbore production as Sprague (576), Korinek (561), Delcalzo (561) and Osborne (556) all combined for a score of 2,253. Gelpey (559), Donald (546), Grisham (544) and Mayo (525) also fired in smallbore.
Air rifle also improved on Sunday due to the hard work of Korinek (588), Sprague (586), Osborne (581) and Delcalzo (576) for a score of 2,331. Also firing in the discipline was Grisham (566), Donald (564), Royal (563), Mills (555) and Mayo (535).
"Saturday was a little rough across the board but we did have a few standouts," head coach MJ Vowell. "We saw the team come together on Sunday as the air rifle team seem to gel and smallbore came up some too. We had several fire personal bests which is always great to see. I am extremely pleased with the team overall. We will have several weeks to rest up a bit and fine tune some things before we have to take on Murray State."
UT Martin will take little under a month to prepare for competition at Murray State on Sunday, Nov. 4.
