
UTM RIFLE WRAPS UP SOLID SHOWING AT MURRAY STATE

MURRAY, Ky. – The University of Tennessee at Martin rifle squad completed its second competition of the season at Murray State over the weekend.
Junior Kaitlin Korinek led both the smallbore and air rifle teams in their scoring while freshman Rachel Sprague tied Korinek's lead in smallbore and was on her heels in air rifle. Freshman Rachel Mills posted a personal-best in smallbore with a score of 551 while Sprague's smallbore score was a new high for her as well. Both squads combined for an aggregate score of 4,528.
Firing for the smallbore team was Kaitlin Korinek (574), Rachel Sprague (574), Andre Delcalzo (557) and Celia Gelpey (544) to combine for a total of 2,249. Also shooting in smallbore was Abigail Donald (552), Mills (551), Jacob Osborne (544), Amanda Mayo (533), Tristan Grisham (531) and Kalen Royal (523).
The grouping of Korinek (581), Sprague (580), Osborne (560) and Donald (558) shot for the squad in air rifle to post a score of 2,279. Also firing in the discipline was Delcalzo (559), Royal (554), Grisham (551), Mayo (548), Mills (547) and Gelpey (546).
"We were a little down on our performance at Murray State compared to the Memphis Tiger Open but we still had a good day as Rachel Mills posted a personal-best in smallbore," head coach MJ Vowell said. "We are looking forward to traveling to Morehead State this coming weekend for two days of competition and to the opportunity to show this is a very strong team that is gaining momentum each and every match."
The Skyhawks head to Morehead State for a two-meet weekend on Saturday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct. 7.
