- Title:
- Graduate Assistant
Kayla Carrell joins the University of Tennessee at Martin volleyball and beach volleyball coaching staffs as a graduate assistant for the 2024-25 campaign.
A Pensacola, Fla. native, Carrell recently wrapped up her Skyhawk playing career under head coach Jaclynn Wilson, playing five seasons of indoor volleyball (2019-23) and five seasons of beach volleyball (2020-24). As a student-athlete, Carrell was a part of six Ohio Valley Conference championships (2022 indoor regular season, 2022-24 beach volleyball regular season, 2022-23 beach volleyball tournament).
In the indoor arena, Carrell concluded her eligibility with her best season in 2023. She became only the 13th player in UT Martin history to reach 1,000 career digs, seizing the starting libero spot on the way to a career-best and team-high 403 digs (4.24 per set) in 2023.
Carrell departed the Skyhawk beach volleyball program as one of the best performers in school history. She left as the program's all-time leader in victories (84) and winning percentage (.737) while ranking second in both OVC victories (33) and OVC winning percentage (.892). She graduated as one of just four players to garner All-OVC accolades in three separate seasons (second team honors in 2021, 2022 and 2024).
Academically, Carrell received OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll status in all five seasons at UT Martin. She graduated from UT Martin in 2022 with a degree in health and human performance and is currently working towards obtaining a Master's degree in counseling.
