David Hart enters his 10th season as an assistant coach with the Skyhawk women’s basketball program.
Hart initially joined the program during the 2010-11 season as a volunteer assistant, serving in that role for three years. Following a one year hiatus, Hart returned to the bench prior to the 2014-15 seasons as the program’s top recruiter.
During his tenure with the program, the Skyhawks have notched eight postseason berths including three NCAA Tournament berths in 2011, 2012 & 2013 while clinching bids to the Women’s NIT in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2020. The Skyhawks have also registered seven 20-win seasons while posting seven All-OVC first team performances and three All-Americans.
Hart has been involved in the women’s basketball game for nearly 15 years at the AAU, high school and collegiate levels. As a coach, he led the Tennessee Wings to a pair of top-10 finishes nationally. Hart also served as a volunteer assistant basketball coach at Westview High School in Martin, teaming with Skyhawk head coach Kevin McMillan for two state tournament appearances in 2001 and 2003, where the Chargers placed runner-up. He also reached the state tournament as a member of the staff in 2006 and 2009.
Hart is a 1991 graduate of UT Martin with a degree in accounting. He is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant and a partner at Alexander Thompson Arnold CPAs. Hart resides with his wife Dana, and two sons Nick and Kyle in Martin.
