Gavin Class is in his first season as the University of Tennessee at Martin's exclusive men's basketball strength and conditioning coach in 2019-20.
Class comes to UT Martin from the University of Southern California, where he served as a football and Olympic strength and conditioning intern since January. He assisted training sessions with the Trojan football, swimming, women’s rowing, women’s lacrosse, women’s basketball, women’s volleyball, beach volleyball, baseball and track and field programs.

Prior to his time in Los Angeles, Class spent over three years working in Baltimore, Md. He was the head strength and conditioning coach for the Johns Hopkins University football program during the 2017 and 2018 seasons, working with a pair of conference championship squads. He also worked as a personal trainer at JDyer Strength and Conditioning, developing and implementing program designs for collegiate and high school athletes while also working with adult clients.

A native of Monkton, Md., Class was an all-conference offensive lineman at the collegiate football level. He tallied All-Liberty League accolades at the University of Rochester before playing his final two seasons at Towson University. He earned a spot on the Dean’s List in five different semesters and was named to the Colonial Athletic Association Academic All-Conference squad in both 2012 and 2014.

Class graduated from Towson with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science in 2016. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is also certified from Original Strength and the American Heart Association.
