Shawn Facione enters his first season as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at UT Martin.
Facione is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Prior to coming to UT Martin, Facione worked as a strength and conditioning intern at Ole Miss under Head Strength Coach Paul Jackson. While at Ole Miss he assisted with the football team along with Olympic sports of baseball, volleyball and cheer. His responsibilities included the implementation of team strength, speed, and conditioning programs along with the supervision and upkeep of athletic performance facilities among other duties.
He began his coaching career as an intern at Cincinnati where he worked with Olympic sports of women’s basketball, women’s volleyball, women’s soccer, swimming and diving, women’s cross country and cheer. During his tenure he assisted with the design and implementation of individual and team strength and conditioning programs along with rehabilitation programs among other duties.
Facione played collegiate football at Capital University where he was a four-year linebacker from 2014-17. During his tenure, he played in 33 games while tallying 121 combined tackles, including 46 solos and 75 assists. He also tallied nine pass breakups along with two forced fumbles and a recovery.
Facione graduated from Capital University in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.
