Sean Fisher has spent one season as an assistant coach at UT Martin since joining the staff in 2019. He serves as the team’s special teams coordinator, running backs coach and recruiting coordinator.
In his first season at UT Martin, Fisher saw the progression of All-OVC running back Peyton Logan who tallied 784 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Meanwhile, graduate Jaimiee Bowe solidified his name in the program record books with 22 career touchdowns after tallying 346 yards and five touchdowns in 2019. As a whole, the running back core accumulated over 1,300 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.
Fisher was selected to the American Football Coaches Association 2020 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute, a prestigious program aimed at identifying and developing premier, future leaders in the football coaching profession.
Before UT Martin, Fisher served two seasons as an offensive quality control assistant at Indiana. Prior to his stint at Indiana, he spent one season coaching cornerbacks at Davidson in 2016 after coaching tight ends at James Madison in 2015. While at JMU, Fisher helped the Dukes to a 9-3 record, advancing to the second round of the FCS playoffs. During his tenure, JMU had one of the top offenses in the nation, ranking first in scoring with 47.9 points per game, first in total yards per game (610 ypg), first in first downs gained (272) and third-down conversion percentage (57 percent). Senior tight end Deane Cheatham led all CAA tight ends in receptions on his way to an all-conference selection.
Fisher spent two seasons on the staff at Ohio State, working with special teams in 2013 and the offensive line in 2014, assisting Coach Ed Warinner. During his time at Ohio State, the Buckeyes went 26-3, winning the 2014 College Football Playoff National Championship, 2014 Consensus National Championship, 2015 Sugar Bowl Championship (CFP semifinal) and 2014 Big Ten Championship.
Prior to his time at Ohio State, Fisher was an experienced quarterback coach at the prep level in the state of Florida with stops at Plant, Armwood and Saint Petersburg High Schools. In his experience, Fisher has earned one national title along with a Sugar Bowl and Big Ten Championship along with CAA Conference and FHSAA state titles.
A native of Rootstown, Ohio, Fisher was a four-year letterman at Mount Union College where he was part of two NCAA Division III National Championship teams in 2005 and 2006 along with four conference championships as a quarterback.
Fisher graduated in 2008 from Mount Union College with a bachelor’s degree in history.
