Two-time All-Ohio Valley Conference honoree Jordan Stoner is in his second season as a student assistant on the University of Tennessee at Martin baseball staff in 2021.
During the abbreviated season in 2020, Stoner served as first base coach at his alma mater. The Skyhawks posted a victory over a ranked opponent (No. 30 South Alabama on Feb. 21), produced the school's first-ever NCBWA Preseason All-American (Nick Wohlbold) and a pair of Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-Americans (Christian Hall and Wil LaFollette) for the first time in school history.
Stoner became the first Skyhawk to bring home back-to-back All-OVCÂ accolades in program history, as the outfielder claimed first team honors in 2018 and second team status in 2019. Although he only played at UT Martin for two seasons, he ranks in the school's top-10 in times hit by pitch (34, first), doubles (34, sixth) and triples (five, 10th). Overall, he hit .351 while starting in all 107 games, scoring 77 runs to go along with 55 RBI's and 18 stolen bases. He posted a .505 slugging percentage, a .433 on-base percentage and committed only one error for a .997 fielding percentage.
Last season, Stoner paced the Skyhawks in batting average (.323), hits (70), doubles (17), total bases (98), times hit by pitch (18) and on-base percentage (.402). He also posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 139 chances as the team's primary centerfielder.
Stoner's debut season at UT Martin was one for the record books, as he collected team-highs in batting average (.382), runs scored (44), hits (79), doubles (17), triples (four), total bases (116), slugging percentage (.560), times hit by pitch (16), on-base percentage (465) and stolen bases (11). Defensively, he led all Skyhawk outfielders with five assists from centerfield.
A Puyallup, Wash. native, Stoner attended Tacoma Community College for two seasons after graduating from Emerald Ridge High School.
Stoner graduated from UT Martin in 2019 with a degree in business management. He is currently pursuing a second degree from UT Martin.
