Skyhawks Sweep SIUE Cross Country Challenge; Mudd and Monro Claim Individual Wins

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.- The University of Tennessee at Martin cross country teams notched its first wins of the season in dominating fashion at the SIUE Cross Country Challenge. Senior Angus Monro and junior Danielle Mudd each conquered their respective fields, earning their first collegiate wins.

The men's team claimed the victory with a 12-point margin in the 8k while the women's team blazed by the field, taking first place in the 5k by a 31-point margin.

 In the triumph for the Skyhawk women, it was Danielle Mudd who took home the individual title from a time of 19:01.2. Right behind Mudd in second place was her fellow upperclassman Reese Settle who claimed her highest finish of her college career on a time of 19:17.1. Sophomore Annie Burns notched a fourth-place finish (19:42.3) while Auckland, New Zealand native Kate Robinson captured fifth (19:43.1). Charlotte Cones made it five top-six finishers for UT Martin when she crossed the finish line at 19:52.5 (sixth).

On the men's side it was Angus Monro who led the Skyhawks behind a time of 25:42.8 to score the victory. Keagan Enicks then took second place off of a time of 26:14.6 and David Stukey's 26:40.6 finish (third) put three UT Martin student-athletes in the top three. Tristen Bough made it inside the top 10 when he crossed the finish line at 28:09.3 and shortly after him came Ethan Brinkley who earned 13th on a time of 29:02.0.

Next, the Skyhawks will make another trip down to Memphis when they attend the CBU Invitational on October 3rd.
