BRENTWOOD, Tenn.- The Ohio Valley Conference released its latest batch of Cross Country Runner of the Week awards and University of Tennessee at Martin standouts Danielle Mudd and Angus Monro were tabbed with the weekly honor following their performance at the CBU Invitational.
Â
A junior from Waterloo, Ill., Mudd led the Skyhawk scoring five for the third straight meet behind a personal best in the 6k of 21:40.6 that helped her finish in second place. This result comes just two weeks after her first-place finish in the 5k at the SIUE Cougar Cross Country Challenge (first collegiate win). The women's team captured its second straight team win which marked the first time in program history that the UT Martin women have won back-to-back meets.
Â
A senior from Auckland, New Zealand, Monro followed up his first collegiate win with a PR in the 8k of 24:26.4 which led him to a third-place finish and the team to second place. He's paced the scoring five in every meet this year and helped the Skyhawk men take first place at their previous meet in the SIUE Cougar Cross Country Challenge.
Â
Next, UT Martin will head to the Under Armour Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind. on Oct. 16 for its final meet before the OVC Cross Country Championships.
