WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – For just the third time in University of Tennessee at Martin golf history, the Skyhawks landed a trio of All-Ohio Valley Conference honorees as the league released its list of top achievers this morning.
Luke Caldwell claimed All-OVC first team status while Drew Williams and Grant Phillips were voted to the All-OVC second team, giving UT Martin three of the 14 spots on the league's postseason list. The 2025-26 Skyhawks join the squads from 2020-21 and 2019-20 as the only UT Martin teams to boast three All-OVC performers. Each first time all-league recipients, the group of Caldwell, Williams and Phillips become the 15th, 16th and 17th Skyhawks to ever nab All-OVC praise.
A senior from Cookeville, Tenn., Caldwell ranks fourth in the OVC with a career-best 71.7 stroke average – 2.4 shots per round better than his previous single-season career low. He played 17 of his 30 rounds at par or better and delivered 26 countable rounds in the UT Martin scoring lineup – including 15 straight from Oct. 6 through March 14. The lefty carded a pair of top-five, three top-10 and five top-20 tournament finishes in 2025-26 with his best performance coming at the Loyola Intercollegiate on Feb. 15-17 (runner-up in the 119-man field with a 13-under par score). That final tally was boosted by back-to-back career-best 66's in the second and third round, a score he also matched earlier in the season during Round 2 of the SIUE Dolenc Invitational on Sept. 29. He became only the 11th Skyhawk representative to win multiple OVC Golfer of the Week honors in a single season as he brought home those awards on Oct. 9 and Feb. 19.
Williams has enjoyed a phenomenal sophomore campaign as he ranks fifth in the OVC in scoring average (72.1) – shaving 2.2 strokes off his seasonal average from 2024-25. The Greensboro, Ga. native was responsible for a countable score in a whopping 90 percent (27-for-30) of his rounds as a member of the UT Martin scoring five, including a current streak of 18 such rounds since Nov. 5. He reeled off 15 rounds of par or better, including a career-best 65 in the second round of the season-opening Grover Page Classic on Sept. 15. His five top-10 tournament finishes are the second most for the program since 2020 as his best performance was a seventh-place effort at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate (3-under par in a 92-player field on March 23-24). He was recognized with an OVC Golfer of the Week award on Nov. 7 and was the only Skyhawk to go 2-0 in the match play Carpenter/Chaney Classic on April 11.
Hailing from Marietta, Ga., Phillips also sports a career-best stroke average as his 72.6 checks in at 11th on the OVC leaderboard (topping his previous career-low of 73.1 in 2024-25). He accounted for 24 countable tallies in his 30 chances as a member of UT Martin's scoring lineup, reaching nine straight countable scores on two separate occasions this season (Oct. 13 through Feb. 17 and March 23 through current). His 208 (-8) at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate on March 23-24 set the pace for the 92-man field, resulting in his second collegiate medalist finish and an OVC Golfer of the Week honor on March 26. His 66 in the middle round of the aforementioned Austin Peay Intercollegiate set a new personal benchmark and was one of 14 rounds of par or better this season. Overall, he left his mark by owning three top-10 tournament finishes and five top-20 performances during a remarkable junior campaign.
These three Skyhawks will look to lead UT Martin in the 2026 OVC Championships as the tournament starts tomorrow and runs through Wednesday, April 29 at the Ackerman-Allen Course located in West Lafayette, Ind.
