
Skyhawks Stockpile Points Throughout Another Successful Home Rodeo

MARTIN, Tenn. – Both Skyhawk teams showed out at the 58th Annual University of Tennessee at Martin Spring College Rodeo as a large field of 333 total cowboys and cowgirls entertained the crowds over the weekend at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex.
The Skyhawk men's squad placed second in the standings with 485 points – their most since accumulating 515 points at Arkansas Tech on March 6-8, 2025. The second-place effort was the highest finish of the 2025-26 campaign for the UT Martin cowboys. Meanwhile, the Skyhawk cowgirls posted 80 points to finish in fifth – notching their fourth top-five finish of the season.
Cooper Stone led the way for UT Martin in calf roping as four different cowboys cashed in points in that event. A sophomore out of Kingston, Ga., Stone won the average with a 21.8 after placing second in both the first round (10.3) and in the short go (11.5). Owen Larrick won the short round with a time of 11.4 seconds while finishing second in average (22.4) and splitting sixth in the opening go (11.0). Clint Southworth placed third in both average (22.8) and in the short go (11.7) while Tate Ondrik's average time of 30.2 and second round time of 17.3 were both good enough for fifth place.
In steer wrestling, Daniel Wilder earned points with a third-place effort in the short round (4.5) and a fifth-place finish in average (11.7).
Three more Skyhawks accrued points in team roping, led by Stone. He competed alongside East Mississippi's Ryder Griffith to finish third in the short go (12.0) and fourth in average (24.5). The all-UT Martin duo of Ondrik and Colton Whittymore additionally placed fifth with a time of 9.4 in the opening round.
Allie Maxwell was a force in the barrel racing, sweeping first-place honors across the board. The senior out of nearby Milan, Tenn. bested the field in average (26.96), in the short round (13.55) and in the opening go (13.41) in a downright dominant performance. Anna Wilder also racked up team points in barrel racing, finishing second in the second go (13.62) and fourth in average (27.32).
Two more Ozark Region rodeos remain on the schedule for the 2025-26 season, starting with a trip to Arkansas Tech in Searcy, Ark. on Thursday, April 16 through Saturday, April 18.
