BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – A University of Tennessee at Martin representative was identified as the Ohio Valley Conference Golfer of the Week for the fourth time this season as the league recognized Grant Phillips with that award today.
Phillips is the third different Skyhawk to secure OVC Golfer of the Week accolades in 2025-26, joining teammates Luke Caldwell (Oct. 9 and Feb. 19) and Drew Williams (Nov. 7). Phillips is a first-time recipient of this honor as he is now the 23rd all-time UT Martin golfer to win the league's weekly award in the program's storied history.
A Marietta, Ga. native, Phillips finished as co-medalist at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate, which was held at GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn. His 208 (-8) tied Jacksonville State's Will Drake for the best score in the 92-man standings as Phillips carded three straight red rounds (71-66-71).
Phillips' Round 2 tally was a career-best effort as he sank eight of his 12 birdies in the tournament over the final 13 holes, overtaking the lead through 36 holes in the process. Overall, he topped the tournament in par-4 scoring (3.73, -8) and fewest bogeys (four) while ranking fourth in the field with 38 pars. The victory marked his second career collegiate win as he also won The Indy at Arlington tournament on March 22, 2025.
On the season, Phillips ranks eighth in the OVC with a 72.2 stroke average. He has shot par or better in exactly half of his 24 rounds while producing three top-10 and four top-20 finishes during his junior campaign.
The Skyhawks resume their spring slate on April 6-7 when they make the short drive to Paducah, Ky. for the Racer Intercollegiate hosted by Murray State.
