DANBURY, Conn. – Ruby Gunderson, a sophomore on the University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian team, was named Eastern College Athletic Conference Rider of the Week for horsemanship today.
Gunderson becomes the 10th different Skyhawk to win ECAC Rider of the Week honors in 2025-26 and the 13th overall UT Martin representative to bring home an ECAC weekly or monthly accolade this season. An Ephrata, Wash. native, Gunderson boasted a perfect 3-0 record during UT Martin's road swing through California over the weekend. She defeated her counterparts from No. 8 Fresno State and No. 10 Baylor on Friday before downing her head-to-head opponent at No. 9 UC Davis on Saturday.

She edged out her Baylor opponent with a 73-72.75 triumph to close out a busy Friday before dialing up 76.5 points on Saturday, defeating her counterpart by 4.5 points.
On the season, Gunderson leads UT Martin with nine horsemanship victories, five of which have occurred consecutively to end the 2025-26 regular season. She is also tied for the team lead with a 73.9 scoring average and has one MOP to her credit this season.
The Skyhawks will look for their second consecutive league title later this month as UT Martin takes part in the 2026 ECAC Championship event on March 26-28, hosted by Delaware State.
