DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference has announced Caroline Krier and Stevie Brown, both from the University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian squad, as its Riders of the Week for fences and reining, respectively.
This Skyhawk duo joins teammate Ava Newsom (horsemanship, Oct. 6) as UT Martin representatives to claim ECAC Rider of the Week accolades in 2026-27. This marks the first career ECAC Rider of the Week honor for both Krier and Brown.
Krier and Brown helped the Skyhawks split a pair of league road matchups last weekend, defeating No. 10 South Dakota State on Friday before falling in a tight 13-7 decision to Minnesota-Crookston on Saturday.
A sophomore from Parker, Colo., Krier averaged a remarkable 87.0 points per ride while going 2-0 last week – including her first career MOP at Minnesota-Crookston. She was responsible for a career-best 88-point performance on Friday – the highest scoring tally of any UT Martin rider so far in 2026-27 – against a zero-point effort from her opponent aboard Charlie. The following day, she posted a score of 86 points to defeat her Minnesota-Crookston counterpart by three points on the way to a MOP medal on Fletcher.
For the season, Krier is 3-0 in fences and not only leads the team in victories but also scoring average (82.3). Her MOP on Saturday was the first for the Skyhawks in fences in 2026-27.
Brown also went 2-0 with an MOP this week, averaging 70.5 points per outing. The fifth-year rider from Shelby, NC began her weekend with 69.5 points aboard Poppy, edging out her head-to-head competitor by one point. On Saturday, she nabbed MOP status with a 71.5-point score from the judges, dialing up a six-point margin of victory over her Minnesota-Crookston opponent on Hector. Her score of 71.5 were just a half-point shy of the best by any UT Martin reining rider this season.
Over the past three meets, Brown has averaged 70.6 points per ride and currently ranks second on the squad with a pair of reining triumphs in 2026-27.
The Skyhawks will compete inside the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex for the first time this season when they conclude the fall schedule against No. 10 South Dakota State (Nov. 20) and No. 2 South Carolina (Nov. 21).
