In the fourth, USI continued to fight back after a strong third until it eventually tied the game at 50 with 6:25 to play. However, the Skyhawks buckled down and outscored Southern Indiana, 16-8, from that point on. Brittani Wells finished the game shooting 5-for-7 from the floor, 4-for-6 from 3-point range and 4-for-4 at the free throw line to lead UT Martin with a career-high 18 points, to go along with a game-high six assists. The lineup change was just the fourth different group of starters that McMillan has used this season.
 - Thursday's win over Southern Indiana marked the fourth time this season that the Skyhawks never trailed in a contest. UT Martin accomplished the feat twice in non-conference play, against Fisk and Champion Christian, and have now done it twice in OVC play, also never trailing at home against Eastern Illinois.
 - Saturday will mark the return of former Skyhawk Ashton Feldhaus, only this time she will be on the other end of the court as head coach of Morehead State. Feldhaus played at UT Martin from 2014-2018 and is in her first season with the Eagles and second as a head coach, after coaching Missouri Western to a 20-10 mark last season.
