Skyhawk Men’s Basketball Selected To Host Second OVC Wild Card Game On ESPNU

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – It was announced today that the Saturday, Feb. 28 regular season finale for the University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball program has been picked up by ESPNU as part of the Ohio Valley Conference's "Wild Card" linear television contract. The Feb. 28 tipoff against in-state foe Tennessee State will be pushed up to 1 p.m. while the women's contest will now take place at 10 a.m. at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center.
The Skyhawks will look for a season split against the Tigers as the two teams battled throughout before Tennessee State claimed a 78-71 win in Nashville back on Dec. 18 in the OVC opener for both squads. UT Martin held a four-point advantage with 2:42 remaining before the Tigers ended the game on a 14-3 run.
The Feb. 28 contest is the sixth and final OVC regular season "Wild Card" game, which is determined approximately two weeks before the competition date to ensure the best matchups. The ESPN family of networks will also broadcast the final three games of the 2026 OVC Championship tournament on March 6-7 in Evansville, Ind.
This will be the eighth Skyhawk men's basketball game to air on ESPNU in the last four seasons, including their Feb. 7 home contest against Morehead State that was previously an OVC "Wild Card" selection.
