
UT Martin Heads To Lindenwood Tomorrow In Search Of OVC Season Sweep

MARTIN, Tenn. – The final two-game Ohio Valley Conference road swing for the University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball squad starts tomorrow with a matchup against the Lindenwood Lions. Tipoff from Robert F. Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo. is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Skyhawks (19-6, 11-3 OVC) are aiming for a series sweep as UT Martin won the first matchup between these two squads. Afan Trnka (season-high 17 points), Andrija Bukumirović (14), Matas Deniusas (14) and Pedro Santos (11) each scored in double figures as the Skyhawks held Lindenwood to 2-for-19 shooting (10.5 percent) from three-point range in a 69-55 triumph back on Jan. 17.
Trnka has excelled in his career against the Lions, averaging 13.3 points per contest on 48.4 percent shooting (15-of-31) in three matchups against Lindenwood.
UT Martin ranks in the top-15 in NCAA Division I men's hoops in scoring defense (62.56 points per game, third), field goal percentage defense (.379, fifth), three-point field goal percentage defense (.279, sixth), offensive rebounding (14.44 per game, sixth), rebounding (41.60 per game, 11th) and rebounding margin (+9.12, 14th).
The Skyhawks are coming off a 61-55 home setback to Morehead State last Saturday. Deniusas (15 points, game-high nine rebounds, career-best four steals), Bukumirović (13 points) and Damien King (10 points) led UT Martin offensively.
The Lions (15-10, 9-5 OVC) are coming off a 79-74 road victory at Little Rock last Thursday as Anias Futrell poured in a game-high 24 points. Futrell tops the OVC in scoring in league competition (20.93 points per game) and is shooting an OVC-best 39.1 percent from three-point land.
Dontrez Williams paced Lindenwood earlier this season against the Skyhawks, notching 20 points, five rebounds and five steals. The Lions lead the OVC in assists (15.32 per contest) and blocks (4.72 per outing) while ranking 10th nationally in fast break scoring (17.36 points per game).
