MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball squad looks for its first win of the 2026-27 campaign tomorrow when it faces the IU Indy Jaguars inside the new James T. Morris Arena. Tipoff time from Indianapolis, Ind. is set for 4 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks are 6-3 against current members of the Horizon League and are 2-0 in the all-time series against IU Indy (formerly known as IUPUI) although these two squads have not met since 1978. This marks UT Martin's first matchup against a Horizon League member since a visit to Youngstown State on Nov. 9, 2022.
The Skyhawks (0-1) are coming off a tight 100-98 double overtime setback at Tulane on Monday in a contest that featured 20 tie scores and 20 lead changes. UT Martin swished 17 three-pointers on a 44.7 percent shooting accuracy from beyond the arc, coming up just one triple shy of the school record for most makes against a NCAA Division I opponent.
The trio of Davi Remagen (24 points, fourth-most by any Skyhawk in a season debut against a NCAA Division I team), Kaan Onat (21 points, 13 rebounds) and Sasha Savkov (20 points, 10 rebounds) led UT Martin at Tulane. Onat and Savkov became the first freshmen to corral a double-double in a Skyhawk season opener against a NCAA Division I squad while Onat's 13 boards were not only a record in a UT Martin opener against a NCAA Division I opponent but also the third-most in NCAA Division I men's hoops on the first full day of the 2026-27 campaign.
The Jaguars (1-0) christened their new home venue on Monday with a 113-76 triumph over Miami-Middletown out of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association. IU Indy never trailed and saw five scorers land in double figures, paced by an all-around effort of 20 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals out of Peyton Heiss.
