
Skyhawks Open Second Half Of Season In Alaska

MARTIN, Tenn. – The 20th-ranked University of Tennessee at Martin rifle team begins the second half of its 2025-26 campaign Saturday and Sunday in Fairbanks, Alaska, when it takes on No. 4 TCU and host, No. 9 Alaska Fairbanks both days
In the fall, the Skyhawks competed in seven matches and finished with averages of 2290.0 in smallbore, 2334.6 in air rifle and 4624.6 in aggregate. On Oct. 31, UT Martin set season-highs at Morehead State in air rifle and aggregate of 2343 and 4639. The following day, the Skyhawks set their season-high in smallbore, also at Morehead State, with a 2299.
Individually, sophomore transfer Sophia Ashford holds season-highs amongst active UTM shooters in all three categories with a 579 in smallbore, a 589 in air rifle and a 1167 in aggregate, while Rachel Haines and Olivia Harvey also set career-bests during the fall season.
Following its trip to Alaska, UT Martin will return to the Skyhawk Rifle Range for two of its final three matches of the season. The Skyhawks will host 19th-ranked UAB Jan. 31, followed by the 2026 Ohio Valley Conference Rifle Championship, Feb. 7-8, featuring UT Martin, No. 11 Murray State and No. 17 Morehead State. UT Martin will close out in 2025-26 season with the annual NCAA Qualifier Feb. 21 at Murray State.
